Wood Flooring 101
Family owned and operated for 33 years, Woodchuck Flooring is happy to help you with your flooring project.
Engineered hardwood is a versatile alternative to solid wood. Unlike solid hardwood, which is one piece of wood milled from a tree, engineered wood flooring is actually made of several wood plies (layers) that are fused together under heat and pressure.
Engineered wood flooring is constructed from multiple plies of wood with a solid wood top layer. Below the top layer are cross layers of plywood that are pressed to create a strong, stable core. At the bottom is a hardwood backing.
Solid hardwood floors introduce an undeniable richness and beauty to your home. Their classic good looks speak to enduring quality and tasteful style that complements any interior setting or lifestyle, from traditional to trendy.
The legendary durability and easy care of solid hardwood flooring makes it a wise investment. Your solid hardwood floor can easily last for 50 years or more with proper care, giving you a lifetime of beauty and value. It’s no wonder solid wood floors are so popular!
Laminate, Vinyl & Waterproof Flooring
Laminate Flooring: 99% wood product.
- Reasonably moisture resistant if planks remain firmly locked together. Will not be resistant to water in the event of flooding, such as dishwasher overflow.
Vinyl Flooring: 100% plastic.
- Superior resistance to moisture. You could submerge vinyl flooring in water for days, with no ill effect.
From pool water to pet urine, and kitchen messes to bathroom overflows—these floors can take it!
